When I was a kid, I used to skate all the time. I am talking all weekend long at the rink and then in my friend’s huge basement all week long. I loved it! I still have my skates that fit me when I was 12 but, sadly, they are too small. I am going to get new boots, though, because they are fabulous and are in pretty good condition. My idea of a great night would be to get a bunch of friends together and rent out the rink in town. We could play all the classics from our childhood and try not to dislocate a hip while zooming around the rink. I just want to hear “Heart of Glass” and skate backward. This must be done before I go back to work at the end of August.

The older I get, the slower it comes off. Grrr. What happened to those days where I could just drop ten pounds in a couple of weeks without batting an eye? Eight pounds down. I can do this!
Digby, for some unknown reason, passed a dog training class last year. I think the trainer felt sorry for my husband and I because he is so darn naughty. He is, however, doing so much better. He now sits, stays (for short periods of time), will lay down, takes kibble from my hand gently, and will walk on a treadmill for treats. (Where is Cesar Millan when you need him, anyhow?) Digby needs to learn to walk on a leash (he is like Rudolph taking off pulling Santa’s sleigh), greet other dogs without freaking out, allow us to pet him when he eats (food guarding is a problem), and for heaven’s sake I just wish I could stop him from eating his own poo (disgusting, I know). Other than that, he is doing quite well. One step at a time, I say. He will get there!
