get taller
Being taller would change my life! - Is there a way? 3 months ago

Just to have that basic confidence in myself other than constantly feeling inferior in every situation and moment. Something to build on would be nice. I think i’m 5’6 at the moment, it maybe less but everyone else pretty much is taller than me.

I’m 26, male and apparent i’m all grown. But recently i noticed that I could see over my brother’s back garden fence, which before I wasn’t able to do. This then led me to suspect that my 40min walks into and then back from uni, whilst taking a daily calcium + vitamin d supplment for a month or so, has actually made me grow taller. My brother even looked at me strangely (probably worryingly) as I must have appeared to be catching up to his 6ft something in height.

I’ve done some research on the web and yes, the calcium, with vitamin d or sunlight and with running/long distance walking can make you taller. This is because you are putting pressure/strain on your leg bones and so the calcium plays its part in inducing bone growth and strenghtening. But the body only absorbs calcium through vitamin d (of a which a 100% daily allowance can be obtained from 10mins of exposure to sunlight) and vitamin c.

Other info i found was, ‘the body produces more growth hormones 10mins after exercise’ and ‘sleep is very important because the pituitary gland reaches its peak production of growth hormone about an hour after you fall asleep.’ Also ‘a poor diet (i.e. fast food, caffine etc) and deydration reduces the amount of growth hormone produced.’

I’m hoping to utilise the hell out of this little gem before I get too much older and the growing just stops.

PS: Also i’m led to believe that lots of stretching/jumping, correcting your posture/building up your lower and upper back muscles will also make you taller. As well as chest and abs to counter the new back muscles.

Good luck!

run a 10K
Race for Life 3 months ago

For fitness, confidence and to raise money for charity. Three of the best things combined into one! I’m eight weeks away from the nearest charity 10k from me but a lack of money (entry fee) and confidence is holding me back from signing up. Also knowing someone who’s an athlete and versed in this world makes me feel inferior and like a joke for wanting to do it. Hopefully I can borrow the fee and surprise myself by sticking to my training plan (which i’ve begun) and going through with it. I think completing the race will literally transform and validate my life and push me to reach all my goals.

Speed up my metabolism
I'm no expert 5 months ago

Our metabolism is faster in the morning and slows throughout the day. So the more you do or eat in the first half of the day, the quicker your metabolism will work and be able to burn what you eat.

By getting up earlier- the moment you wake your body will start to burn fuel/fat and so by the end of the day will have worked for longer (and in the peak metabolism point of the morning). It’s true: breakfast is really the most important meal of the day! If you skip it, then you delay kick starting your metabolism for that day.

Going for regular runs and exercise. Morning runs on an empty stomach will kick start your metabolism in the best way, plus your body will start to burn fat for fuel, as there’s no stored fuel from food to burn for energy.

Eat smaller meals and snack throughout the day (an average five times). Each time we eat our body burns the same amount of calories. So the more smaller portions you eat, the more times your body will burn the same amount of calories and speed up your metabolism, and help you lose/maintian weight by countering your intake of calories.

All of these will work best within a set routine otherwise as you start to skip parts and get lazy, your body/metabolism will respond and get lazy also.

That’s all i know…

Good luck!

Ps: Although it’s easier said than done :)
