Enjoyed some drumming at a drum circle in Venice. It was a bit balmy out there and there was a good sized crowd to blend into. I felt like a square with my shiny new drum, but after a few minutes I was right at home and I caught up to the beat rather quickly. Playing by ear seems to be the easiest way to start. I’m practicing the basic slap and tone strikes at a slow pace.

I actually purchased a 14” TOCA and we are getting acquainted. I haven’t begun to drive my roommates insane yet. I am looking for drum circles in my area. Drumming informally would probably help ease my anxiety since I put myself on such a steep learning curve.
