I am glad that I made a pair of toe-up socks, mostly because it confirmed that top-down is the method I prefer. I’m happy to finally have this pair off the needles after 6 months. Now I can start on another pair :)

How I did it: First, I had to get all of my documentation in order, including a certified copy of our marriage license from the courthouse, my original social security card, original birth certificate, car title, etc. From there, I started at the social security office to get my new card. Then, it was on to the DMV for a new driver's license. Once I had my new license, I got my car insured in the state of CT. Then, it was back to the DMV to re-register… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I had some undyed Corridale Cross roving from when I first learned how to spin. I used Kool-Aid, vinegar, and my microwave to dye it lots of pretty colors! Read how I did it…
How I did it: I visited www.atlasquest.com to get started finding letterboxes in my area. I already had a rubber stamp (store-bought, not hand-carved, sadly) to use and a handmade paper book to use as my logbook. My first time out, I tried to find three different letterboxes, and had no luck on the first two. When I found the third, it made it all worthwhile! Read how I did it…

I have taken the first step toward pursuing this goal, and registered for the first of 3 required classes through FIT online! I will begin mid-January.
I cast on a few weeks ago and finished the first sock for Steve. I decided to do them toe-up because I wasn’t sure whether I would have enough yarn to do them cuff-down. It was a good learning experience. I wasn’t thrilled with the fiddlyness of the toe and heel, but I am glad that I learned the techniques. Now, I don’t have to pass up pretty sock patterns just because they’re written from the toe up.
