Still haven't gotten anywhere with this

Went to Weightwatchers for a while, and that was working – I lost 35+ pounds, but then I also lost something else… My job. Which meant no more money to go to Weightwatchers. Since then I’ve been back and forth – I’ve recently gone up again by another 20 pounds, and I’m now starting that whole menopause thing, so swollen ankles, thinning hair, poor health, etc etc.

Yesterday I bought new clothes for the first time in almost two years, and was horrified by what I saw in the changing room mirror.

Came home ready to try again. Going to try and take baby steps, change one bad habit at a time, get myself healthy enough to start walking again.

I guess the only thing that matters is how often you keep trying, right?

Wow. I sure hope so.

We did finally make it out to Westport, MA

Didn’t sell a manuscript, though. My mother-in-law bought us the tickets. We spent about 9 days there, two summers ago – it was wonderful. It’s so unlike the West Coast. Out here we have dry summers and even mostly dry falls and winters. We don’t get much rain until well after Christmas, and it usually stops by the end of May, at which time everything dries out and the hills turn golden. Out there, it rained most days. We were shopping one day, and the rain hit like mad, but then stopped after about 20 minutes and the sun came out. The light was spectacular.

Everything there is so much older than it is here – a lot of the houses had little plaques on them stating they were built in 1770 whatever by Captain So-and-So.

Out here on the West Coast, the missions are the only things that even come close.

Anyway, we’re looking to go back again.

It's going really well

18 pounds, at 2+ pounds a week. Vegetarian all the way (yes, I know most people can’t live like this, but I am SO much healthier without the meat)...

So not a commercial, I promise, but I’m doing Weightwatchers, and it’s so cool…

I love the food I eat and I NEVER feel deprived, because there’s room in my diet for the occasional splurge. I get chocolate. I get Starbucks. I get pizza. True, I only get one slice, but I still get pizza. It’s all about portion control, eating a lot more fruits, veggies and whole grains, and getting more exercise. Sorry, everybody, there’s no way around it. Nothing else works – and here’s the key word – PERMANENTLY

I’m learning new habits every week. I absolutely know I’ll be able to take off my remaining 84 pounds at 8-10 pounds a month, I hopefully won’t need surgery to remove all kinds of gross loose skin, and best of all, I can really live this way for the rest of my life!
