How I did it: My boyfriend and I saved up our cash and took a week long trip to Florida while I was on winter break. We stayed with his sister and brother-in-law which saved a lot of cash and was a ton of fun! It was in the mid sixties to lower seventies the whole time, and Floridians thought it was cold, but we Chicagoans were enjoying the beaches and not at all missing the -25 degree windchill back home that week. So it’s not a trip to Europe or anything, but my boyfriend and I finally got tickets to go to Florida to visit his sister (who apparently has quite a cool place with a pool, etc)! I took a whole week off work (which is the only time I’ve done that, besides when I had surgery once.. ugh!). Plus, I live in Chicago, where there’s tons of snow and it’s freezing cold, so the 70-80 degree weather in FLA is going to be awesome!! Can’t wait!
I just transferred to a store in the city, but I still have the same artist position. Still, that’s good enough for me because I get to keep my wage and health insurance while I go to school, and I don’t have to deal with my sexist, lying boss anymore! Hurrah!
