Alright, so I’m seventeen and I wish it was easy being the age that I am. I am currently applying to University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Elmhurst College, Loyola University Chicago, University of Illinois at Chicago, Illinois Wesleyan University, and University of Iowa (just so you can get a clear idea of where I’m applying?). I have written my essays and filled out my applications, now all I need to do is cross my fingers and hope that I can get in SOMEWHERE.

How I did it: I ended up applying to only 3 schools, but I did a lot of research about them before applying (application fees are no fun). I kept my goals realistic - I had a safety school (Elmhurst), a target school (Iowa), and a reach school (Illinois). I took an enriched essay writing class at my high school and got a lot of help with proofreading and editing my essays, which definitely paid off. In the end, I got a $56k scholarship from Elmhurst an… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I guess it gets easier to see more bands play once you get older - I wrote this entry when I was like, thirteen years old. But now that I'm seventeen and have been able to drive for awhile, it's gotten so much easier. I've seen Incubus a second time, as well as PlayRadioPlay!, Coldplay, Meg & Dia, Josh Kelley, and best of all, Andrew Bird (one of my personal favorites). It may not be a hugely impressive concert resume, but I'm pretty … Read how I did it…
How I did it: I'm a senior in high school, and I already know that I plan on majoring in music education and probably minoring in early childhood development. So I had the opportunity to work at the Little Voyagers Summer Camp (at the YMCA) this summer, and I took it gladly. At times I got fed up with cleaning up spills upon spills and solving fight upon fight, but it was definitely worth it. I'm so glad I gained the experience of a first job with such… Read how I did it…

Probably the thing I want to do with my life after college/during college. I can’t wait :]
Going to a concert is one of the best feelings in the world. I’ve been to four concerts in my life – Dream Street (haha, don’t laugh at me, I was 9), Weird Al, Incubus, and Alanis Morissette. The latter two gave me this incredible feeling – I just love seeing shows. Hopefully I’ll do more of that in the near future, even though I’m starting high school in the fall and most likely won’t have time.
