Well, if you read some of my entries.. You’ll see that I’m a big fan of tattoos. I got a sun on one hip and a moon on the other (go figure) the day I turned 18.. Big mistake. I have grown to hate them with a passion. They were too small and not what I at all what I truly wanted, so I had to just settle for them basically. I finally decided to bite the bullet and get them covered up this past week. I now have two tattoos on my hips that go up my stomach about a third of the way. They are two swallows, one on each side..and I love them DEARLY. They’re amazing works of art and all I have is the outline now.. I’ll be ecstatic once I get them filled in! I can’t wait!! They’re amazing.. will post pics of them when they’re done!!

This statement/prayer is definitely going to be my next tattoo. What amazing words of wisdom these are.
I feel that there’s no better way to express yourself in art than to get a tattoo. I have obtained a passion for them within the past several years and I currently have 4 of them. A brief history about them:
-When I turned 18, I held a bet with my college roommate that I would return from Fall Break with a sun and a moon on each of my hips.. So I did. Several months later, freshman yr. of college.. a friend of mine and I went at the same time to get tattoos- me, a shooting blue star on top of my foot; her, a heart on her shoulder. So, we did.
-I returned home from a bad start at school and stayed home and tattoo free for about a year. I returned to the same school and started summer school in April of 05’. A month or so went by and another friend and I decided to get tattoos… this would be my 3rd, and her first. I had been debating for a while about what to get and where and finally it all hit me. My Grandfather, Pops (Robert) had passed away Dec. of 04’. He stepped in and raised me b/c my father never would, and he has always meant the world to me. I came up with a symbol using all of his initials (R, C, & H) and decided to place it on the back side of my neck, directly under my hairline. I got to the tattoo parlor and decided that the symbol wasn’t enought to commemorate the loss of Pops, so I decided to get a blue (blue topaz was his birthstone) hibiscus flower through the symbol. That became my favorite tatoo, and the one that has the most meaning to me.
-Over several months now, I have been itching to get another tatoo. I grew to hate the first ones I got on my hips so I decided to cover them up. Some buddies of ours just opened up a new shop in town and I went by to talk to the artist. I pondered somemore about what to get and finally came up with the idea of two swallows. They’re an old school type of tattoo that’s being used in the new age era, they’re fun, and they symbolize freedom..so I loved the thought of them. I now have the outlines of two HUGE swallows on my hips (covering up the sun and moon) and continuing up my stomach. They are SUCH works of art and I LOVE them dearly. I have an appointment next week to get them filled in! Needless to say, I cannot wait!!
