How I did it: Use the Couch to 5k program. The best iPhone app is "Get Running"... There are others for android and IOS. This will keep you disciplined and structured to get you to 30 minutes of running non-stop. After that, do at least two shorter 2-3 mile runs during the week, and a long slow run on the weekend.
