I’ve started by making my own veggie burgers. This has become a fun thing to do, because there are so many types of beans and grains that I’m discovering. Recently, I took the recipe for the Fava Bean Burger, which also contains chick peas and toasted walnuts, and used it in a spaghetti sauce for a meatless “meat sauce”. Having two to three vegetarian dinners during the week has been great. I feel less logi and blah.
This is hard because I love food. What I’ve started to do is if I’m going to eat a sandwich for lunch, I’ll only make half a sandwich. This helps to not feel overly full and I’m cutting calories. If I start to feel hungry two hours later, then I’ll have a yogurt or some fruit.
