Somewhat of an unconventional goal… I want an organic beef ranch. But until the day I can supply myself I won’t eat meat. I’ve been to enough feedlots and packing plants to understand the negative externalities associated with such production methods. Sub-theraputic antibiotics and gmo feed and well as the energy it requires to grain feed cattle it is not worth it. if every day people understood what it took to get a slab of meat on their plate they would be demanding changes in the current system.

Coming from an affulent society, it amazes me when I watch doc’s that the people of Africa are smiling and dancing when they don’t even have enough food. I watched Hotel Rwanda, the Constant Gardener and sure for a few hours I am touched by their struggles, but one easily forgets. I want to go over and make a difference, whether it is helping subsistance farmers drought proof their operation or educating about HIV or even promoting proper education for all. One can never fully realize the hardship these people endure unless they are there living it with them.
