While doing my BA I really wanted to just be on an archaeological excavation. The opportunity came, and I seized it!
Since, I have continued my studies and after a period of actually calling myself, an ‘employed archaeologist’, I have gone back to school for an MA. I love the life I have chosen to live.
I love the graduate (or here, post-graduate) programme that I am in. In taking one year off between my BA and MA, I was able to realize the ‘professional’ stance I wanted to take. I’ve implemented change, resulting in respect and joy in what I spend my days doing.
The next plan is to work (to pay off loans), then go back to school. I think I may want to get another MA in a different subject. Once I’m old, grey, and theoretically defined, I’ll go for the PhD.
