How I did it: Development was done a Mac with NetBeans 6.5. Started off using Textmate for development and switched to NetBeans midway. Productivity soared after switching. The ROR development and debugging tools in NetBeans is excellent.The application (http://www.mobilebooklet.com) is now in testing stage with the base functionality up and running.
