How I did it: I was diagnosed as having severe clinical depression. As with depressed people, I didn't see a point to anything. Nothing motivated me. Nothing made me smile. Nothing made me happy. Obviously it wasn't healthy. It seems like you've realized that too if you set "How to overcome depression and loneliness," as a goal. That's the first step.Seek professional help. It's almost impossible to do it alone. I went to a psychologist even though I w… Read how I did it…
How I did it: 1. Find a reputable company.2. Get your friends to hop on the bandwagon (a big group is always fun & there may be deals)3. Decide how you're going to jump (ankle harness, chest harness, backwards, forwards etc)4. As you step on to the platform, don't dwell on looking down.5. Clear your mind & don't freak. 6. Have someone count you down--don't count slowly.7. Take a breath and either topple over the edge, hop, leap, run + jump. 8. … Read how I did it…
Summer is when I usually have time to cook. My definition of cook isn’t something I can just slap together (e.g. toast with sauteed spinach, bacon and poached eggs on top). It’s something that requires at least a bit of skill. This year I challenged myself to make pastry dough for pies and quiches. It was a lot of work but also a lot of fun. It required me to give individual attention to little cubes of butter and maintain a cold temperature. It takes two days in total to make but the results are flaky and delicious.
My first pie was an rum raisin apple cinnamon pie. It was a complete success. Following that was a quich lorraine but it wasn’t nearly as good as my pie.
In addition to baking, I made pan-seared chicken thighs. They were pretty flavourful but rather oily. It required me sear the thighs until the skin was brown and then put it in the oven. It too was successful :)
All-in-all, I’m happy with my progress. My friends and family are happy too :) And this concludes my “Learn to Cook 10 Dishes From Scratch” goal. I hope to be cooking more but I’ll be at a Marine Sciences Centre for the next six weeks that will serve food 7 days a week.
Happy cooking everyone!
Quite the thrill but not as exciting as bungee jumping. Beautiful scenery and not as gut wrenching. It’s definitely an experience you can’t really explain :)
