Layers! I’ve heard of people trying to get one side all one color, and then not know where to go from there. Visualize each little cube in the right place, and realize that you can have a side of a solid color with no piece in the right place!

Once you get one layer with all the pieces in the right places, work on the next layer (just 4 pieces) and then finally move the last 8 pieces into place.
