We did some research and made the commitment to go. We backpacked since we would be going to multiple cities and took some chances to get a more authentic picture of Italy (read: we did not always stick with the “tour” and did it our way).

How I did it: Apply online early and get your deposit in. Went by myself and met up with others who went solo, became a camping family! If you want to go with friends, get them to apply early as well. Come with an open mind and a willingness to talk to the people you meet. Read how I did it…
How I did it: This experience was much easier to do with my husband since we motivated each other. Best to use all charts provided to keep track of good/not so good days.
