Colors?

I know what I want, I’m just debating over the colors. I plan on getting a small lotus on the back of my neck.
A lot of people tell me not to get a color tattoo because it’s going to fade. I know that all tattoos fade a bit, but for about how long will it stay vibrant looking if it’s well taken care of? Is a black tattoo a better idea?
