There are two weekly markets that sell fresh fruit and vegetables on Tuesdays and Fridays. And the merchants never want to sell you anything less than a full kilo. So I come home with each time with several kilos of beautifully fresh apples and oranges and chard and artichokes and onions and… And then I have to eat it all before the next trip. :-)

I started Lent out well, trotting up to Sacre Coeur each day for Vespers and or evening Mass. But after the start of classes, which frequently finished at 5 and had me coming home at 5:30, I could no longer summon the desire to venture out again.
I was offered an upgrade to business class for $500 when I moved to Paris. I decided that the incremental cost was worth it, if only to see what it was like. It was indeed, as air travel goes, a luxurious experience: plenty of room, higher quality food and drink, and the ability to stretch out full length to (try to!) sleep. I’d consider doing it again, at least for a transcontinental flight.
