I spoke to my cousin, who used to be a guide in Montana. He says it’s on! hoping my other cousin gets done w/ his legal stint in Iraq in time to join us.

i’ll need a companion in a kayak to fend off any gators. I’m thinking maybe i should kayak the perimeter the two nights prior and just make sure i don’t see any gator eyes with the flashlight. Doubt one would come for me, but you can never be too careful about such things!
just booked the flight and entered registration. not doing nearly as well on the whole “run training” part…hell, it’s only 26 miles!
did this last summer, but growing all that stuff was a LOT of work, especially the tomatoes, which, eventually got eaten by bugs b/c the skin was too thin. i didn’t water them enough. anyhow, finally made a big batch of organic home grown salsa using about 8 diff ingredients. Took about an hour of chopping. it was good, but you can buy a vat of equally good salsa at Costco for six bucks!
i’ve got the running down, just need lots of time on the bike and swimming. swimmer friends have pledged to teach me proper form, since i’ve had no swim instruction since age four. except i refuse to wear speedos. oh, and i need a bike. by the bike i meant the bike i yet to own. I’m thinking this goal is 18-24 months away
my cousin and i paddled 30 miles of flatwater from Manatee springs state park to the Gulf of Mexico (near Sewanee, FL)
It’s Patriot’s Day! I’d actually never heard of Patriot’s Day until after talking to a navtive Bostonian a few weeks ago, nonetheless…
to do:
1) Qualify (done)
2) must drink any beer offered by spectators
3) must wear colonial tri-corner hat thingy
4) must wear at least 4 american flags (ordered tattoos and socks)
5) rent house for the week (done)
6) talk others into dressing up (this part’s not going well)
