Since habits control your brain so much, I’ve started trying to break my bad habits and make new good ones. For example, I often sit down just to discover that I’ve forgotten to do a task (put up the dishes, throw away trash, etc.) and I used to just say ‘what the heck’ and wait until my parents started nagging me to do it. Now every time I sit down and that little devil on my shoulder tells me to stay there, I say ‘nope’ and get up and just do it. It sounds small, but it actually makes a big difference.

I’m getting better, but I’m still not completely reliable. Starting tomorrow I’m going to trick my brain into being on time. Instead of planning on being ready at 7:40 (which is when I have to leave) I will plan to be ready at 7:00. It seems a bit extreme, but I can use the extra time to eat a good breakfast, watch some tv, or take a short nap.
Now that I’ve become a vegetarian, it’s been harder to get all the protein I need. No one else in my family is a vegetarian, so I have to cook my own supper.. I usually just microwave up some pizza or fake chik’n nuggets, but that can’t be too healthy. I’m going to check out a vegetarian cookbook and cook a healthy meal for supper everyday.
