i will keep learning, of course... 2 years ago

but i think i can say i have learned to do this. still not proficient enough with my left hand to decorate my right, but god willing one day.

these are my friend’s feet, which i just finished tonight.

new teachers 3 years ago

when i first started studying, the teacher i felt most comfortable talking to recommended studying with as many teachers as possible. i finally figured out why, after my last class. the new teacher told me that for shimmies it’s easier to do them if you’re slightly pigeon-toed, and damned if she isn’t right.

it’s so exciting, i love studying this dance and i love seeing improvement. i’m never going to be a goddess, but belly dance has showed me that i can be completely mortal and evoke the divine anyway.

i went for a walk in the park by my house, and someone had abandoned a pile of astérix le gaulois comic books on a picnic bench. i read these books many times in english, when i was a kid. they still make me smile. it’s like god wants me to study.
