Visit Scotland
Untitled

I’m vaguely planning to go to Edinburgh with my mum in October, so this goal should be getting ticked off soon.

knit socks
Untitled

My lovely friend Helen gave me some sock yarn and the necessary needles, so I found a nice, basic sock pattern and went for it. I don’t know what I was worried about – after I managed to wrangle the DPNs correctly it went pretty well.

keep my house clean
Untitled

I’m ticking this one off because it’s not an issue for me now that I live by myself. Apparently, I am incapable of being tidy in shared living situations, but once I have my own space, I like to keep it clean. I don’t think this reflects well on me at all, but there you go!

Learn Japanese (read all 2 entries…)

I’m going to count this one as done – I completed a Beginner’s Japanese course a while ago now. I’m not even remotely good at the language yet, but it was an interesting course, and really all I wanted was to get a taster of the language.

eat at a sushi restaurant

I went to Shiki in Norwich over the Easter weekend with my friend and her husband. I definitely recommend going with someone who knows what they’re doing – who knows what I would have ordered if left to my own devices!

Sushi was a big success for me, although it’s not going to become my favourite type of food.

crochet a blanket

I’m 10 squares in already, so this is totally an achievable goal, as long as boredom doesn’t set in.

write more letters

Or indeed, any letters!

take a bellydancing class
Untitled

Is it cheating that I’ve already booked a class – so I know exactly when I’ll be able to tick this off?

read all the BBC's Big Read books
Untitled

I’ve already read 88, before I thought of doing this goal – so I’m quite pleased with already being on the way!

Learn Japanese (read all 2 entries…)
Untitled

I don’t have any particular reason for doing this – more just the challenge of learning a non-European language. Having done French and Spanish before, you can coast along a certain bit by guessing and knowing roots of words etc, but there’s none of that in Japanese! The thing I can’t get my head around is, why on earth do they have three alphabets! I mean, I know they’re used for different things, but still, it’s not the most sensible way to go about things!!
