there’s only four days left until Thanksgiving now and I’m hoping we’ll be ready. Thursday night we should be smoking our last cigarettes…...again. I’m dreading the withdrawals and already pitying my kids.

How I did it: my husband helped in building me some custom shelves, and I invested a bit in storage drawers (my new favorite thing). It made it easier to find places to put things and the drawers were a convenient way to put things away and not forget where they are. (the drawers are see through)Those may not be the best for everyone, but I homeschool, so I have a LOT of stuff, and all that stuff wasn't doing me or my kids any good packed in boxes that… Read how I did it…
How I did it: My husband had a week off work. I used that time to pretty much stop "cold turkey". That way I could lay down and sleep whenever I felt the need and he would be there to watch our children. I slept on and off for a few days but by the end of the week I was actually getting a few hours at a decent time of night. Every once in a while I'll take one or two sleep aids, but those nights are now few and far between....I'm no longer addicted to … Read how I did it…

I had this in my completed list, but had to go remove it form there. I had quit smoking for almost a year. When my sister-in-law and her boyfriend moved in with us a few months ago…my husband and I both started smoking again. So….....
I put this one back. I was talking with my hubby last night and we’re going to try to quit smoking after Thanksgiving but before Christmas. It won’t be fun. Our extra house-guests are still here and it’s still stressful but, though I actually enjoy the act of smoking, I HATE the way it makes me feel physically and I HATE that I’m being a bad example for our children.
This isn’t a goal that I’ll be able to move to “finished” any time soon because it’s an ongoing process and something I need to keep doing every day and most days to keep reminding myself why. My 5yr old is learning to read and doing well with math which is awesome! She LOVES science so I try to do an experiment of some type about once a week. My 3yr old is getting more comfortable with his letters and he picks up a lot of things as he’s running around bouncing off my walls.
The most important accomplishment to me so far has been that my husband has finally come around on this. He never said he didn’t want me to, but he did say he wanted them in school at some point preferable right after first grade. Now, that he’s sees it’s working and he’s convinced that I’m committed to our children learning, he’s come around a lot. He says so long as it’s working, and they’re not falling grossly behind in any thing then he’s content with me teaching them until I don’t want to do it anymore. This is amazing!!!
