I never find movies based on books to be as good as the book. This was a good film though. I’m a big fan of Ron Howard and Tom Hanks. I found the movie glanced over some of the points in the book that help you conenct with the characters.

I would highly recommend a star chart. Discovery store and Borders sell these for about 15 dollars. The chart consists of a wheel affixed to a cardboard background. You dial in the time of night and day of the year. The chart will then help you to find the stars that are currently visible in your night sky (commonly called the summer and winter skies). The chart will also help to pinpoint the brightest stars in the sky. Very useful for finding the dimmer constellations.
