wake up when my alarm clock goes off
Yeah, I'm kinda bitter. 17 months ago

It makes me sad that so many people have this similar goal, and believe they have ‘something wrong’ with themselves because of it. I’ve lived my entire life with extremely low self esteem, in great part due to this issue. I had trouble even in early elementary school with getting up on time and missing the bus! I’ve come to wonder if it really is ME that’s broken…

If this is a big enough problem for so many people, perhaps there’s really nothing wrong with US. Perhaps the heart of the problem lies in the greater culture. Societal expectations force our lives into these unnatural patterns, then it convinces us there’s something wrong with US when we have difficulty adjusting. That sounds more like an emotionally abusive relationship to me…

Build credit
Step 1 19 months ago

After the Macbook/Nebraska Furniture Mart Debacle a few weeks ago, I’ve finally made my first step to building credit that fit in quite nicely with buying an even better Macbook Pro (and completing another goal)!

I’ve been wanting to get a Macbook for quite some time, and my generous financial aid package would have allowed me to comfortably just buy one out of pocket, but I wanted to use the purchase as an opportunity to build up my non-existent credit. So yesterday, after being convinced of the spectacular clearance price on this Macbook Pro, my lovely bank representative helped me set up my first little 15 month loan (only $2,000, but that’s a LOT to poor, poor me) by transferring that amount from my savings into a CD. It might get a little tight with that money stored away on top of having to make monthly payments now… but the consolation is this GREAT new toy and the super-low interest rate the arrangement afforded.

Now… I just have to stay on top of my payments. I see a new goal to add to my list already…

And maybe in a year or two I can get a new car!

Go me!

Finally! 19 months ago

I just got my shiny new 15” Macbook Pro today! It went on super-duper clearance at the college bookstore, and when I investigated it was pretty obvious to just go for it! This is the same machine that I hear went for about $2,400 until Apple released a slight upgrade a few weeks ago, but this one is perfect for my needs right now, better even than the 13” plain Macbook I was previously considering… AND it is apparently the best clearance deal in town right now at $1500!

I’ve never owned or extensively operated a laptop before, so the trackpad and slightly different keyboard arrangement is something to get used to. But that’s the really only a minor worry… I’m just so thrilled with this thing, I’ve been playing with it all night, browsing accessories, and SO need to go just go to bed!

Yay!
