go on a silent retreat
Untitled 14 months ago

I’m becoming Catholic, don’t ask, it’s a long story and a longer process LOL, but the youth group at my church (again, don’t ask) has 2 major retreats throughout the year as well as a few “work” or team ones. In my research for our journals, I found several websites that have ideas for those who don’t have access/time/money to retreat centers:

http://www.creighton.edu/CollaborativeMinistry/cmo-retreat.html
http://www.intervarsity.org/studentsoul/item/getting-away

I don’t think retreats are for any particular religion, so don’t feel put off if these seem too oriented Christianity – see if something in the meditation or alone time appeals to you.

There’s a retreat center in Malibu I hope to go to for one weekend, Serra Retreat Center, I’m a little nervous about having my own thoughs for my only company, but I hope I learn something :)

Go to Comic Con
Untitled 14 months ago

This was my second year attending. If you only listen to one tip, book your hotel as early as you can through the hotel directly not through Comic-con! Comic-con starts taking reservations in February and they have strict cancellation policies. Book through Hilton, Marriott, etc. around November or December the year before and you’ll get close to the same rate with better cancellation policies. Don’t say you’re there for the convention though :) Other than that, have fun and don’t try and do it all in the 3 or 4 days you’re there, it is awesome and tiring and amazing all at the same time! There is tons of free stuff, don’t go crazy buying things you can get at Target or at home, and enter as many contests as you can, they give away iPods, PS3, etc for free.

My pic is with two “Ugly Dolls” and I danced with Stormtroopers on a stage and my mom accidentally got in line to meet all the Star Trek actors LOL. It was great and we’re going next year (and the year after, and the year after…)

stop lying
Untitled 2 years ago

Haven’t really given up…just am now more aware of what makes me automatically give an answer when put on the spot. I now tell people I need a second to compose my thoughts if they ask me something that catches me off guard – like when someone walks up to my cubicle and asks me about a project different than the one in front of me – I’m afraid people at work may think I’m slow or retarded, but I’d rather give a correct answer than scramble to make what I said true.
