How I did it: I set a goal for myself of 2,000 words per day and simply made hitting that goal a focus. To win at NaNoWriMo you actually need to write slightly less than that per day but if you aim for more you will offset those days when you just can't get started or can't manage more than a few hundred words because your characters aren't cooperating. How I did it: By making the effort to seek out new things I expanded my world. It also took some effort to realize that a "new thing" didn't necessarily mean that I had to jump off a bridge or eat fried bugs or do anything that might appear on 1,000 Stupidest Ways to Die. New also means listening to music you might not ordinarily listen to (for me this mean a whole day of bluegrass...and I discovered I kinda liked it), or just taking a diff… Read how I did it…
How I did it: Humans are creatures of habit so anything that helps me get more out of the rich, vast world around me beyond the little trench that goes from work to home to the couch to the computer to the bed is definitely worth it.
