My husband and I made the decision a long time ago that I was going to stay home for the kids. That idea morphed into home schooling the children as well. I have been doing that for 6 years or so now, and since its going so well, I wanted to add some income to our family too.
I have done ebay, I have a small puzzle site (free-daily-jigsaw-puzzles.com) but nothing brought in a consistent paycheck. Through the convoluted pathways of the internet and boards I finally landed on a great board (workplacelikehome.com). They give listings of legitimate, real paying work at home jobs. I sent out my resume and landed a job with one of the companies.
I have been working at this for a couple of months now and all the checks have gone through. I make from 6 to 10 per hour, not bad for a job I can do in my PJs if I want. I started as order taking and have moved on customer service and love it. I can chose my hours, and even give them up 10 minutes (or less) before my shift if something comes up.
I just want to encourage others it can be done and legitimate jobs are out there. Good luck!

We chartered a 42’ sailboat out of Bellingham, WA during late June. We were contemplating buying a similar sized boat and wanted to see if our 4 kids could be on one without killing each other.
At first they kept bumping into each other, but soon everyone found their own space and could move smoothly without collisions. It was an awesome experience. It took my husband 3 days to really de-stress and we spent the last two days anchored at a state park that could only be accessed by boat. We did absolutely nothing but explore the island and tide pools.
The kids frequently say how much they loved that vacation. We then knew they would do well on a boat, enough so that we purchased one close to the same size and plan on keeping her in Bellingham. We look forward to more experiences like that one on that charter.

When I was about 17, I was working a summer job in northeast Alberta at the Cold Lake Air Base. I had to pull the dreaded all-night shift watching over our sleeping cadets. I was sitting inside trying to stay awake when suddenly light spilled in the window.
I ran outside to see one of the most amazing thing I had ever witnessed. The entire sky was lit with various shades of green ribbons moving across the black background. They looked so low, I thought for a moment I could have reached up and touched them.
Some people say that they don’t make sounds, but I heard them – they popped and cracked like the sound of a frozen river breaking up, although a whole lot quieter. I stood there for over 15 minutes watching them dance until they faded off, leaving me very glad I got stuck on that night shift.
