The truth is the only limits you have are the ones you set for yourself

I am not an athlete. I’ve never been a runner or played team sports. There was a time when I was an avid weightlifter and a mixed martial arts student. Due to injuries those days are long behind me. Recently I had been looking for something to challenge me the way fighting did but weightlifting never could. Something that even with my limited level of fitness I could participate in. I had heard several of the guys at work talk about doing Crossfit while in the service. I was intrigued by the idea of functional fitness that equates to real life. While on vacation in Las Vegas I made plans to train at Crossfit Las Vegas. Zach and Joe modified the WOD (workout of the day) for me to accomodate my injuries. Let me start by saying that I have never been so humbled in my life. This is the hardest workout I have ever done. I thought I was going to die, hell I wanted to die but I finished it. There are few things in my life that have made me prouder. Now I want to actually get good at Crossfit and join an affiliate in New York. By this time next year I plan to be kicking ass and taking names.

Fall in real love: ridiculous, inconvenient, consuming, can't live without each other love.
Been there, done that.

Would love to fall like that again. I’m not particularly looking to become someone’s girlfriend this year but I will not turn away this kind of love if it appears to me.

Read 50 books in 2007
It felt so good to wet my intellectual curiosity again

Once I started I couldn’t seem to stop myself. The long forgotten passions came bubbling to the surface and I explored them all with books and some field work. I still have about 6 books left to read on my shelf but that shouldn’t take long. I learned I have so many more interests then I had originally thought. Often reading a particular book would cause me to seek out 2 others of a completely different nature. I highly recommend this endeavor to everyone. Spend an afternoon in a bookstore or library and discover what you’re passionate about. You’ll be glad you did.
