I have recently become a Scout Leader for the Boy Scouts of America. This is extremely interesting as I only spent three weeks as a Boy Scout when I was thirteen. I will be learning along with the scouts.
Several cool things about this:
- I am volunteering!
- I am part of an organization that has citizenship and volunteering in the community as core values. So by volunteering as a Scout Leader, I am helping to develop more volunteers.
- I was hoping what ever I did for volunteering would help my local community.
- I was hoping what ever I did for volunteering would help steer youth in a positive direction and become responcible adults.
By becoming a Scout Leader I accomplished all these things and get to go camping many times too!

I would like to read all the books listed in “1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die”. I am going to cross reference it with Penguin’s “100 Classic Books You Must Read Before You Die” so I have an easier to goal to accomplish. Being a proud American, I would like to focus on the works of the best American authors.
