No, really! Well, okay, it’s not a written prescription, but he strongly recommended I get away to someplace sunny as it appears I get SAD. I actually looked into it, but I can’t afford it this winter. I am definitely planning this for early 2010, though. My thoughts are that I’ll go to Disneyland in either January or February, when it’s still cold and snowy here. This will also put me one step closer to my goal of visiting all the Disney parks around the world. Woot!

How I did it: I still am TERRIBLE at cleaning the fridge. Then why am I marking this done? Because I have developed a process to handle the very unpleasant task of cleaning it when I finally get around to doing it. Here it is: Put on shoes. Put a fresh garbage bag in the bin, and put the bin right next to the fridge. Prepare a sink full of hot, soapy water. Light a scented candle. Put on a face mask. I like to dab a bit of perfum… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I tried probably about 4-5 times over a six year period to get into the game, but kept losing interest. What finally worked? I played along with my best friend. We live thousands of miles apart, but we'd try to play at the same pace and would discuss our progress/thoughts about the game on AIM. Much fun, and I'd love to play other games that way. How I did it: In short: get my depression properly medicated. It took years of trying different meds, which was VERY frustrating, but a year ago we hit on the right combination. Woohoo! As a result, MUCH has improved in my life. I still don't clean my cat's box daily, but I clean it much, much more often than I used to, so I'm marking this one done. Read how I did it…

It’s been twelve days since I’ve really started working on this, and I’m making TONS of progress. It’s already becoming a habit to log into Mvelopes instead of my bank account. I’m still overspending in some categories, but it’s not drastic.
I still have TONS of catch-up to do. Too many bills that I’ve let go for far too long. I can’t really use the spending plan I set up until some of the bills are paid down a bit. But using Mvelopes is helping me plan for the pay-down, so it means I’m not spending money on other things and thus slowing up my progress. I’m already feeling a lot more confident about my spending habits. By the end of March I should be able to have one major bill paid off, and hopefully a good start towards paying down some others. It’s probably going to take a long time until I can really use the spending plan. It might even take this whole year to pay off all these debts. But I think that would be a huge frakking accomplishment for 2009.
Hah! When looking at this goal, I saw that I posted an entry two years ago. That would have been a MAJOR mail purge at the time; I had years worth of mail that I hadn’t gone through. Oops.
I had my sister over yesterday, which meant cleaning the house. So I used that as an opportunity to do another sorting and filing session. The latest build-up of mail has been opened and filed/tossed. Yay! I suppose I could mark this as done, because I did go through the mail, but I’m not going to mark it done until I come up with a consistent method for handling it. In other words, this still needs more work.
