Run 3.1miles. Check.
Now to keep up the running and get back into road cycling (might be doing this mostly indoors with the trainer due to winter weather) and get to the pool!
I did end up getting a road bike. I got a beautiful used, but loved, LeMond Zurich road bike and clipless pedals and shoes. I love it, it’s a gorgeous bike, so that’s definitely a motivator to ride it :).
I finally completed this in 2 months. This has been in and out of my goals list for a while. I finally stuck to it and very grateful I did. It really sucked at the beginning, but it gets easier. I am up to running 40 minutes/4miles now. I am hoping to continue to work towards a 10k and half marathon run next.
I started my first week, but I actually started w/ the week 3 program since I have been working out for a couple weeks and felt up to the workout.
I also got new minimalist running shoes (Brooks PureConnect) since I’m pretty fascinated with the less is more philosophy of minimalist running. I’m liking them so far- landing midfoot instead of on the heels and the shoes feel like i’m landing on little clouds.
i’m totally committed to this, this time around since completely this goal is necessary to compete in a triathlon.
I WILL BE SUCCESSFUL and COMMITTED this time!!
Taking a swim class in a few weeks to learn proper freestyle technique/breathing.
Started on the C25k program.
Bicycling on alternate days from running.
Doing upperbody strength training as well.
Actually not planning to do one until next year, but that’ll give me enough time to get very fit for this endeavor and won’t (hopefully) be huffing through it.
it’s not a teaching job, but i’m pretty excited about the company. i;m going back into the lab to work as a scientist.
and i am moving to my dream small city.
(trying to find the upside of employment….)
i have time to go bicycling everyday. i’ve started up doing a 12 mi back/forth bike trail along the Willamette River and the downtown waterfront.
i think i’ve realized i prefer bicycling to running.
this is on back burner for now. until the winter rain comes….
pretty much given up on this happening.
what a shitty time we live in here in the US.
only 8 or so years waiting to do this.
can’t be more pleased about how it looks so far. can’t wait to get it finished with full color. glad i waited. i have an amazing artist i am working with. i won’t lie, it is a crazy intense place to get a first tattoo.
this is going to slow me down…
plus, getting my tattoo outlined today. no exercise for a few days anyway….
i did do some city biking this saturday and hiking and cold water swimming in waterfalls this weekend.
same as yesterday’s…
2.67miles, 34 minutes, 4.7 pace
5 min walk
walk until 34 min; 2.67 miles. walk pace=4-4.2, run pace=5.5, avg pace=4.7
side started hurting 1/2 through for a few minutes. took good breathes and subsided. bladder fills up quickly in the morning i’ve noticed though! as soon as i started working out and felt the urge to pee again.
and i just got a call at 7:30am this morning (good thing i was up!) to set up an interview for next week for a teaching position i applied for as well.
keep these interviews (and hopefully a job offer) coming!
phone interview tomorrow with 1 of the 2 companies i emailed on friday. non-teaching jobs, but, rather, back in the lab as a scientist positions.
nervous. i always get so worked up before interviews. i’m hoping exercising in the morning will help burn off some nervous energy.
5min walk warmup, 4.2pace
1.5 min run, 5.5 pace
3 run 15.5
1.5 walk 17
3 run 20
walk until 37 min total, 2.60 miles, avg pace 4.6
not a goal that i feel like i have much control over…. i keep on sending on resumes and cover letters, but, damn, competitive is fierce.
followed the treadmill c25k plan pretty closely, but forgot some of the timepoints and then added some more running at the end.
walk pace: between 4.2-4.0; run pace=5.5
5 min warmup walk
1.5 min walk
2 min run
5 min cool down walk
total: 2.55 miles, avg pace 4.6
i review the artwork on saturday, first session scheduled for tuesday, aug 2nd.
