It has always been a dream of mine to be a part of the foreign exchange program. I don’t care where I go, I just want to experience something new. Get a taste of a different lifestyle and culture. I think it would be a positive experience for me. I realize that as an American I don’t know much about other countries and their citizens and through this I think I could change that. Learning how to adjust to something different could really help me become a better person, and I think I would learn a lot of life altering lessons from the experience. I downloaded the registration packet off of the foreign exchange website, but have yet to talk to my dad about it. I know he would be lonely and upset if I left, but this is something I think that I really need to do. Hopefully one of these days I’ll be able to have a real discussion with him about it.

I’m a swimmer… and this addiction to soda is killing my endurance. I started drinking a lot of soda so that I could stay awake, but after awhile I became addicted to the caffeine and frankly, I don’t think it has any effect on me whatsoever anymore. I try not to have it in the house, but when it is, I can’t refrain from drinking it. Slowly, I think I’ll start cutting back.
I’m not quite sure that I would call myself a bad friend, I guess I just have quite a few issues. You see, I don’t trust people. Plain and simple. Not that there aren’t reasons for my trust issues, and it’s not like I don’t want to. I’ve just gone through a lot of hurt in my life and I definitely haven’t always made good choices in who I befriend. I’ve always let my ‘friends’ put forth the most effort, and although many people might disagree, a friendship takes an enormous amount of effort. I let them call me, never the other way around. I refuse to open up for fear of getting hurt, and I tend to put other people down to make myself feel better. Basically, I’m just a bad person. And, trust me, those ‘friends’ of mine certainly aren’t afraid to tell me. I have a lot of things to work on and I’m looking forward to being the kind of person that someone can always talk to.
