Okay, so I’m watching the History Channel, and that commercial that uses Matchbox 20’s song with the lyric “Let’s See How Far We’ve Come” is on. It still seemed appropriate for my description of this goal for me. I noticed some time ago that when I reflect on how I’ve changed over months or years, I am fairly shocked at how I’ve grown and what I’ve accomplished. This is my attempt to put a little fun into my life while charting my personal progress in a way where I won’t notice the change, but can see radical change when I look back a couple of years from now.
You know that silly feeling you get when you read past journals? (Especially the emo ones from when you were grappling with puberty) I am resolved to make my journal (at least a part of it) absurd, so I don’t have to worry about the silly feeling.
I am basing my journaling around a couple of things: My AmeriCorps journal (which I am required to keep) and Benrik’s This Box will Change Your Life , based on This Book Will Change Your Life by the same author(s).
Wow, that was a long post. I’ll stop talking your ear off.

I told myself that if I made it through the holidays without a panic attack, I have achieved this goal. It is now officially marked off!

Distraction!
I got an Ipod this Christmas, and that has set things back a little bit. Mostly because I found the mix CDs that I made in undergrad and, of course had to put them onto my Ipod, as well as all of the real CDs I’ve accrued over the years.
I kind of consider this an organizing measure, as I am going to be able to file all of my CDs away, and I will soon play a giant game of Name that Tune in order to get all the songs tagged (and delete songs I have multiples of)
That said, my room is still a mess. I have cleared a spot on my dresser for my beta fish (his name is Horace), and I did get the gowns/costumes out of my closet so that I could hang my real clothes up. I also organized my t-shirts (the ones I had in my room) into ones to keep for exercise clothes, ones to get away (mostly now-vintage kids size euro football jerseys), and t-shirts to make a t-shirt quilt/quilts (see my goals for that one)
Since I’m snowed in as far as work is concerned, I am going to try to consolidate my hangable clothes into one closet (right now some of my clothes are in my sister’s closet), work more on getting my music on my Ipod, clean the garbage out of my room (it’s starting to look like my car did), and maybe get it so I can see the surface of my dresser.
After that, Knitting Supplies cue dramatic foreboding music
