How I did it: I was denied coverage for health insurance due to 'marital counseling' and because I was applying for individual insurance I can get turned down for anything. I felt so frustrated at getting turned down by so many companies and began to look at the state pool insurance program. I finally enrolled in a junior college and, while it's hard work, as long as I maintain a certain number of college hours I am eligible for studen… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I have been wanting to do this for several years and even researched how to write a mission statement as I couldn't fathom where to begin. Joan Mazza's book, Dream Back Your Life is what finally made sense to me. I followed her direction and even wrote my obituary. still working on it. i’m in school and at least some part of my work is doing what i am interested in. and, while i don’t HATE my main job, it’s just not what i want to do anymore. i’m tired of it. I do hate my other part-time job and i’m setting a goal of being out of debt and 6mos expenses in savings and then i can quit- if i don’t get replaced first. my boss in that job knows i don’t like it and i offered to leave once already if he was that unhappy in my performance.
i had to get ‘selfish’ to start feeling like i can start getting it together. so much of every choice i made was based on what was best for the kids or my perception of what would be best for my relationship. then i read a quote from nelson mandela who said that i was not making other people big by making myself small and that what i was really afraid of was my own success yet i owe it to the world and to god to make the most of my potential (my interpretation here). so i am and it feels better
