Maine is amazing! I found a summer job online that included a place to live. I was right in Acadia National Park. I hiked, worked, and travelled around Maine with some of my co-workers. It’s still one of my favorite states.

How I did it: I couchsurfed a couple of times. The first time was informal- I met a traveler who lived in the town where I was headed. He lived in a house with female roommates. We spoke on the phone and e-mailed back and forth a few times. One month later, I bought a train ticket and she picked me up at the train station. I lived on the farm for two weeks and did all sorts of things- raking, weeding, pruning, and painting. In my spare time, I explored the area. I helped with some household… Read how I did it…

I watched the first six episodes of this online Harvard philosophy class. I have six more episodes to go. If you’re interested, here’s the website: http://justiceharvard.org/
Also, interesting factoid: Michael Sandel taught seven of the writers of the Simpsons at one time or another. Supposedly, the character of Mr. Burns is partly based on Michael Sandel- I say more in physical appearance than anything else.
