Make sure the Torbay 350 event is a success (read all 2 entries…)
Yup!! 3 months ago

In the end we had two events for Torbay – and only one of them was a success really, but it was fantastic!! We had a little crowd of people flying kites… some people had made their kites out of carrier bags, bubble wrap, broken windscreen wipers and other recycled things!

We all had a really good day. The people I’d spoken to from the Herald Express sent a photographer down too and they had covered the event in the paper before and after the day of action! :)

The 350 Day of Action in general seemed incredible. www.350.org …. I couldn’t quite comprehend how many people in the world were working together all at the same time!

I DID IT! 3 months ago

My name was in the paper Friday 24th October 2009, and my photo was in there on Monday 26th! HERALD EXPRESS.

I had contacted the Herald Express about the event that me and Claire had organised as part of 350’s global campaign. Friday’s article acted as a bit of publicity for Saturday’s event. They had sent a photographer over to us, and a couple of these photos were then used in Monday’s article which was on page 3, so lots of people would have seen it as soon as they opened the paper!

I was really excited about this! But since I would say Claire put the most effort into the organisation of this event, I want to someday achieve this goal again with something that I’ve put more personal effort into.

do something memorable every week (read all 5 entries…)

Saturday 24th – 350 Day of Action

24th OCtober was the 350 Day of Action global series of events. http://www.350.org/ Claire and I had organised two events for Torbay – and this was certainly the most memorable aspect of my week!

The event at the zoo wasn’t very successful… but the kite-flying on Goodrington green was fantastic!! I borrowed a friends kite, but several people had made their own kites. One woman had used an old carrier bag and broken windscreen wipers to make hers!! Fantastic!!

The kiteflying was great fun, and we also had the Herald Express write about it on Friday and then again on Monday! They had sent a photographer over too, so that was fantastic. I feel close to tears when I look at the thousands of pictures from all over the world from actions that all took place on the same day! It’s beautiful to think so many people in the world were working together all at once. :)
