How I did it: Be curious, go around exhibitions, go to art shows. Attend some art student art shows where you can find some artwork for reasonable price and you can have a chance to discuss with the artists about their artwork. Understand their emotions. See what you like and dont like. Take your time. I love anything to do with Art: looking at Art, discussing Art, sharing with others, making Artwork (especially using materials and day-to-day objects in a new purpose) as well as collecting some Art.
