Normally my fellow NYers dislike people who are blatantly touristy, but I bit the bullet and got out my camera and fanny pack!
Accomplished so far:
-Went to Ellis Island
-Went to the Observatory Deck of the Empire State Building
-Went to MOMA, AMNH, Brooklyn Museum, The Frick, Cooper-Hewitt, Whitney, main NYPL around Bryant Park, Guggi and the Met.
-Went to the Halloween day parade
-Found the fountain in the middle of Central Park
-Went to the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens
-Went to the Bronx Zoo
-Saw Phantom of the Opera
I have yet to:
-See the Statue of Liberty
-Be in Times Sq. for New Years
-See an old classic film at Bryant Park in the Summer
-See Ave. Q, Spamalot
-Go to the M&Ms store

Things that I find helps:
NO soda!!
Absolutely none!! Anything with high fructose corn syrup in it is terribly bad for you because your body considers accessing those fat reserves only in immediate emergency (i.e. if you are stranded on a desert island and have been literally starving for 2-3 days).
NO hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated anything!!
It’s usually found in baked goods. Another clever name for this is trans fat. Stay far away!
Drink lots of water!
Do I really need to say why it’s good for you?
Only eat when you really feel hungry
If you must snack, nom on fruits.
1 hour or exercise a day really helps.
Jogging, pilates, yoga, kickboxing or whatever.
I have a bedtime ritual where I do 1+ hour of yoga, a shower then sleep. So far I’ve been doing it everyday for the past week and it’s been helping a lot. My arms, thighs and stomach seem happier and more toned and I am gaining back my flexibility. Get into a routine and stick to it!
