How I did it: Looked over the para para video a lot. Paused, and went over the parts I didn't have down pat, and practiced even when I wasn't looking at the vid to see if I remembered it. Me and my mom made a pact. Every day she will call me and teach me a new phrase in Ibo. I have a place where I write them down- based on sound since I’m not familiar with the writing system. But the goal is to speak it, not write it! I am happy that my mom is making the effort to call, even though she forgot all last week.
I am excited about this and it is a good time to connect more with my mother as well. So far its been 2 weeks since it started.
I plan on auditioning for a singing contest! I need to choose a song and I should be good to go.
