Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

keep going

Have been running only 2-3 times per week but adding in near daily long walks/hikes, biking, and/or core classes. I still want to run it and am beginning to time my runs for the first time but also enjoying the cross training aspect. As long as I’m out six times a week and three are running, I’m satisifed.

6 down, 4 to go

Lost six over the past 2-3 weeks by just making more conscious decisions about food and exercise.
I anticipate that I should finish this with no problem in the next 4 weeks.

go camping

Camping is what you make of it. It’s good to do new things but it can also be highly over rated! Camp where there are fewer people- camping by others takes the true joy out of it!

Call an equipment rental store before you make a big finanical commitment if you’re not sure it’s a good fit.

back from trip - RUN

Ran some while on the road last two weeks and walked a lot but not on the running plan per se. Ran 5K on Monday. Biked hard on Tuesday. Will run tonight.

Walked 5 miles on Saturday evening and biked a hour on Sunday but no time for running per se.. At least converting time talking with people into walks and rides rather than coffee!

Got in about four slow miles runnings with my dog. Found a new park to run in which is great for novelty. Signed onto one of the NY times running plan for a marathon training.

time to run again!

Been doing RAGBRAI but I’m back on this beginning today. Actually ran short distances with my dogs last night at the dog park to dry them after swimming but nothing measurable.

Monday 6/22

Went to cycling class only to find it cancelled. Ran 3.5 m instead but then realized that I was not wearing my running shoes and stopped before I returned to black toenail status!

The heat index is well over 100 degrees last few days so running and biking are rather limited.
