Rowed a 7:45 in August without any pacing. I set a goal of 7:30 and tried rowing even splits until the final 500m where I picked up my pace a bit. Wound up finishing in 7:26. Next goal is 7:15 in a few weeks.

I bought a chumby a little while back. It’s cool, but I haven’t done anything with it beyond the basics yet. Right now it’s a $150 replacement for my $20 alarm clock. I hope to learn to program actionscript and write chumby apps.
I bought an Atlas pasta roller when I was in college. I loved the pasta I made. Sadly, I don’t use it much anymore. I’ll have to work it into the meal calendar one of these weeks.
I made nixtamal corn tortillas and they were amazing! I wrote about it here and followed Alton Brown’s recipe. I’d like to make flour tortillas next following Cam’s recipe below.
Got my tongue pierced about 10 years ago, when I was in my early 20s. It didn’t hurt too much, like a slight bee sting to the tongue. Had it for a few years and took it out. Still have a scar though.
I saw an episode of Good Eats on Food TV where Alton made his own corned beef. That next weekend, I had 8 lbs. or beef brisket curing in the fridge. Yum….
Yesterday, I bought a gallon of good organic goat’s milk, some buttermilk, and some rennet. Today, I have a cheesecloth with a pound of curds hanging in my fridge. I followed this recipe and it seems like it’ll be excellent!
My first dashboard widget is functional, but not yet pretty. I set out to write a widget that looks up words from the official scrabble dictionary. I’ll probably add some quizzing functions like “find all anagrams of blah” in the future. This was a good way to learn javascript better.
I went to Lollapalooza ‘94 the summer before my senior year of High School. My first rock-concert. Smashing Pumpkins, Beastie Boys, George Clinton… It was a blast!
