To live instead of exist

Becoming aware of what I’m doing in the present moment, and that each moment will never come again, has had a great impact on me. I don’t take things as seriously as I used to, and I’m having a lot more fun and I feel closer to God than ever.

get a dog

My family and I got a wonderful 2 1/2 year old german shepherd/Lab mix from Homeward Bound. She is wonderful, although it has taken a little patience. She was a rescue dog and she didn’t have a name when we got her- which was very inconvenient when she jumped the fence running after a squirrel. Since then she has learned her name (Eloise- after Kay Thompson’s book), and has learned to sit, stay, and even toss a treat up in the air and catch it from her nose. She has been great with my 4 year old daughter and we recently got a kitten that she is very tolerant of – she has even started “mothering” him. If you don’t have prior experience with dogs, or the time or patience I wouldn’t recommend a rescue dog. But if you do, it’s very rewarding.

My family got the cutest grey and white tabby kitten. My daughter named him Skipperdee- after Eloise’s pet turtle (Kay Thompson’s book Eloise”.
He is very loving and sits on my lap when I’m working at my desk and just purrs. He also is very playful and especially enjoys wrestling with our German Shepherd/Lab mix.
One note- I would recommend starting to trim their nails weekly when you first bring kitty home. We just started with him and it has made a huge difference in his scratching.
