I bought a vase when I was picking up bricabrac for my new office, and bought tulips for my office shortly thereafter. It was so nice to have fresh flowers at work. I also bought two small plants. Having green and bright things around really helps my mood.

How I did it: I hired a lawyer to draw up the original papers, because I was really nervous about getting it right. In retrospect, I think I really didn't need to - the hardest part was getting my ex to actually sign everything. That took almost two years! And while it’s not a dream job, it is really great. I get to do work I like, and I’m appreciated for my skills. I know, like any corporate environment, it will have ups and downs… but it’s MUCH better than where I was before!
I hired a lawyer, and filled out the initial paperwork. I never felt so good to write a check in my life as I did for the retainer – to me it feels like at least part of the responsibility now is on someone else, which is nice. Now here’s just hoping for some cooperation from the other side to move this along.
