slim down to fit into my mother's vintage dresses.
it fits. 2 months ago

i’ve made an exercise-related goal and changed its name countless of times to correlate with whatever i’m doing at the moment so it won’t seem like i’ve given up on my previous attempt, which i did.

i’ve put on a lot of weight in the last 3 months. i no longer wear pants because i can’t fit into them, and i wasn’t thin or fit to begin with. i’ve been trying to motivate myself to exercise more, but nothing worked.

yesterday, i came home and found a large bag of interesting fabric on the floor. i picked it up and thought to myself, “wow, i would so make them into dresses,” and was ecstatic to discover that they were already in dress form!

turns out, they were dresses my mom made decades ago for her younger sister. i’ve been dreaming of finding vintage dresses as i’ve been craving more, and have been going to thrift shops more often but always come out empty handed. my mom was going to donate these, but they’re very carefully made and are a dream come true!

i’m pretty confident that if i slim down i can fit into them. my mom assured me that i couldn’t, because her sister was really skinny (she weighed around 90 lbs. when she wore these… in college), but i pointed out that my mom wouldn’t have made them to be form-fitting, that they were probably baggy on her, and she agreed. my sister tried them on last night and fit them perfectly! she’s thin and fit, but not absurdly skinny. there was a time i once fit into my sister’s clothes, back when i exercised a whole lot, so i’m sure i can do it again. i just have to start now.

i went for a 20 minute jog yesterday. i didn’t jog entirely, but it was still difficult for me. my sister suggested i join her in a bikram yoga class. i just need to be more active. i plan on doing crunches daily, and i need to find some arm exercises to do so i can get rid of all that flab.

become more involved with everything. (read all 2 entries…)
with everything. 2 months ago

i change the original title (“become more involved with design, school, and the rest of the world”) because i didn’t feel like design and school were that important in the great scheme of things. they are still important, but it’s so specific! i think i just want to be more involved with whatever i do, and i think having a less specific goal makes it less of a serious thing and more appealing to achieve.

or maybe it’s just a cop out? who cares. :P

just got back yesterday! 2 months ago

at 11 pm! my boyfriend and i went up last thursday. we left la around 3 pm and drove pretty continuously, stopping twice to get gas and stretch our legs. we made a longer stop to visit some friends in berkeley and didn’t reach our hotel until friday, midnight. we intended to stay until the following tuesday, but ended up extending our stay for another day! we left yesterday on thursday around 1 pm.

i had SO MUCH fun! i expected to do tons of touristy stuff, but my bf’s been there already and we have a couple of friends who live up there, so we took our time and visited one or two places a day. dined in chinatown and japantown, visited the academy of sciences, viewed the tower at the de young museum, traveled to thrift town in el sobrante, visited moma, experienced sketch tuesday at 111 minna st., and made several trips to berkeley and oakland. i have yet to see the golden gate bridge, but i KNOW i will be back! i love the architecture in the city, and am willing to withstand the cold! my bf and i even found a local frozen yogurt place that we frequented three days straight. :)
