As I see it, it comes down to the old wisdom of eat less and exercise more – but – it’s very difficult for most of us to change these patterns without help. The Special K Diet is nothing more than eating a couple bowls of cereal instead of whatever you’d usually eat. Nothing special about that. It’s just very low calorie, which always leads to weight loss, but if you want to lose it and keep it off, then you need to start eating a bit less, and moving a bit more on a regular basis.
Replacing Shredded Wheat for Special K may or may not mean less calories, I don’t have either handy to check the calorie count.
I’d focus on adding instead of taking away. For instance, add an apple a day, only 80 calories more or less and gives you something natural to chew, lots of quality nutrients for your body to work with. Get hungry, eat an apple. ;-)

eh. In Weight Watchers, if I’m correct, a bowl of that is only 2 points. I’d try Weight Watchers. eat whatever you want, but controled. Heck, you can try and fit a snikers in your diet and still lose wait. Its all about points and calores. Don’t limit yourself to just that kind of ceral and what not. dieting is actually easier when you go on weight watchers. I lost 7lbs. in one week…then again, im young….but it still works. try that.
i actually lost a decent amount of weight eating a small bowl of special K for and a cup of stonyfield farms yogurt for breakfast.
to be honest, i got bored with it though and switched to other cerals, shredded wheat, chex, total etc etc…and it all seemed to work great provided you eat the recommended amount.
However shredded wheat has 4.4 grams of fiber [bite size] and special k only has 1 or so.
