learn how to use 43 Things
A question about this goal: I have twice now been offered "supercheers" the 1st one is free, the others only require my cc. Is this legit? If not, there's a problem! October 17th, 2007 20:56

Great.

One of the reasons I loved this place was the lack of popups, etc. I don’t mind that the robots need to raise $, I understand this, but I loathe the popup.

Sigh.

I agree. The robots should pay us! If we have to pay then we should be able to structure the site how we want to use it.

calypte ready for something new :)

Yeah, you think a small announcement on the blog would have been in order before a mysterious new feature requesting your cc details appeared, non?

Or, something like the block they used for the challenge thing.

Also, the cc thing doesn’t say anything, that I saw about security which is one of the reasons I thought it was bogus.

I don’t read the blog. I don’t read anyone’s blog. I do read entries here, but not blogs. I could spend my whole day reading and writing blogs, and not get anything accomplished! I love people and hearing how they work, so blogs are like emotional candy for me, and I avoid them.

I’m glad you have shared this with us. Because I’m seeing it now, too. I would have been freaked out if I hadn’t read this before.

Yeah, well I did freak out a little.

It was very weird to suddenly have this commercial solicitation on this site. I’m used to it other places, but not here.

I’m glad the posting was valuable!

(But I think I got so freaked that I forgot to cheer whatever of yours I meant to! I’ll have to go check.)

TajLV happy clients, work is good

I wrote a suggestion to the robots saying Supercheer is a bad, bad, bad idea. It appeals to individual vanity, and the idea of paying to cheer others goes against the spirit of the site. So what happens next? One of the Robots Supercheers ME!! Now it looks like I condone it. Jeesh.

Well, legit or not, I will not give out credit card information unless I see a REAL benefit, either for myself or the person/organization I want to help. I give to charities and political causes all the time, but it is not the same.

Silvie Hiding the FB button behind another button does not really work :((

I agree with you.

It seems too that the robots are supercheering people. I’ve yet to see / hear of anyone else actually paying for a supercheer.

so as a money raising venture it is likely not to work very well

Todd S had a posting about a problem with it, I think earlier today.

sipes23 is bewildered.

Hmm, I should write them a note too. I don’t think the idea is bad per se—kinda like Facebook gifts. But the “make this a supercheer” thing showing up every time could get annoying.
