drink absinthe for breakfast
A question about this goal: Can you do it on a daily basis? 4 years ago

Answers:

Is it that expensive overthere? (By the way, don’t know where you are…)
Anyway, try Spanish Serpis Dry (only 55%)... and, of course, Ordoki Mandragora, from Basque mountains close to France.

You can probably make your own absinthe cheaper than buying that expensive stuff. The plant nurseries sell wormwood, which is one of the main ingredients of absinthe. I would start by adding the essence of the boiled root to a cheaper grain alcohol. Of course, you could try fermenting and distilling a liquor with the pounded contents of the root.

Beware, you know, that repeated consumption of absinthe is supposed to cause blindness as well as mental degradation. But if you find an isolated place to do this, you can accomplish your goal of killing someone by killing your own self, and not leave your carcasse for someone else to clean up.

Wormwood can be toxic in excess, so be careful if you try to make your own.

Making absinthe is a bit more complicated than adding wormwood tea to vodka. However, unlike tequila (fermented agave), absinthe is most definitely not fermented wormwood roots! It is a liqueur flavored with wormwood, anise, etc.

According to these links, most of the problems attributed to absinthe were actually from adulterants in cheap absinthe or from plain old alcoholism. Blindness wasn’t mentioned at any of the sites I looked at, but since that is the primary toxic effect of methanol (wood alcohol) I suppose rotgut absinthe might have been contaminated with methanol, like moonshine often was. (I would be particularly unsurprised if this happened with home-brew absinthe.)

I haven’t actually tried it, but I’ve read a lot and have friends on LJ who have indulged in moderation a few times. As far as doing it every morning goes, I wouldn’t. I just took a class on biochemical toxicology, and suspect that any toxic effects would be much more severe if it was taken regularly.
