A question about this goal: How do you pick a topic for your blog that is interesting both for you and other people? January 31st, 2011 19:51

Answers:

I’m not sure. I would pick a consistent theme and go with it. Just make sure it’s something you can continue to blog about and enjoy blogging about.

I personally have a “Blog Book” where I write down fleeting ideas that I would like to write in my blog. Over time I realized that a majority of them are ponderings on Science so that’s the way I’m leaning.

I don’t really care if it’s interesting for others. I just need to write. But if you want to test the waters, see if others are interested in a topic, posting on reddit.com is a good idea because people there are eager to give feedback.

I chose a topic that I was passionate about, so I knew I would not easily tire of writing. I have been blogging for over two years and now have figured out what sort of stories interest other people, it was more just trial and error. The good thing is I tailored my topic to be “reader friendly” while still staying true to my passion.

You have shown an inclination to have a topic with shared interest.

Here are a few ways to cover it.
-Consider your blog representation of your personal brand, so it shows you in best light in your field of work.

-Let it be a hobby or a specific phase you share & note about

-Write lessons & notes from your journal, it might not make up for numbers as above, but having an impact on a single person’s life is huge & something to care about.

And do start & then change as needed.

Best!

this is the big question when it comes to blogging but ultimately you have to write about something you know and something you are passionate about that fits in with how you wish the blog to relate to your own image and how you promote yourself or business

if you are new to things then experiment and write about different things and invite feedback

martinimermaid life is what you make of it!...

Many people write about the way they feel about the daily events of their lives. That’s what i do in one of the two of my blogs. I have a fake name, I give nicknames to people I write about and none of my friends know about it so it is kind of fun too. The other is about my hobby: diy. I write about interior design trends, my own projects, give details, answer questions. I’m even thinking of selling some stuff since people have been asking me for some time now..

You could start with the first type of blog and in time see what it is that you like more to write about and go with it. The blog may even act as the medium for you to reconnect with a long forgotten hobby, just like mine did. Have fun! : )
