Well for one thing, stop addressing yourself as an asshole, as you did in the previous entry!
As a person develops some self-love and self-acceptance, even with all the imperfections one can see about oneself oh so painfully clearly (een though we might bluff it out with others)... it all begins.
You can change more easily when it comes out of self-love than self-hate.
You can accept others more easily because you’ve accepted yourself.
You can SEE others more clearly, because you’re not focused on how you can get them to approve of or love you… you’ve already done that for yourself.
Other possible ways:
Ask yourself “What am I feeling underneath this?” whenver you start seeing yourself acting assholic.
Join Big Brothers and commit to a kind one afternoon a week or month.
If you have substance abuse problems, meaning you have OTHER problems and you use substances as solutions rather than deal with them: get yoiurself into a 12 step group.
The next time you by an ice cream pay an extra $4 and tell the clerk, “I want to buy the next customer’s cone, whoever she or he is… Just tell them it’s on a stranger.”
Water your plants. If you don’t have plants, get a plant. Feed your cat and clean out its cat box. If you don’t have a cat, get a kitten.
